A new initiative called the League for Digital Boost is emerging in Central and Eastern Europe. This League, a brainchild of SAPIE, has an ambition to create a broad coalition of actors in the field of digital economy to support digitalization of SMEs.

The digitization of SMEs entails processes that involve a large number of changes. The adjustments include the preparation of a new business model, process automation, data processing, modification of payment systems, sales platforms and marketing channels. In order to undergo such transition, companies need financial support, counselling, favourable policies and low bureaucratic barriers. This is where the public sector can help to maximize benefits of this trend. Connecting business and the public sector is the goal of the League.

League aims to tailor policymaking to business needs via organizing discussion rounds, building network of experts and organizations, and launching media campaigns to make the topic resonate. The activities are spread over CEE countries with involvement of key unions and associations active in the space of digitalization or SMEs. The league is operating through common meetings, attendance to high-level conferences and shared online knowledge hub. Key messages will be delivered on regular basis to key public stakeholders.

We are preparing comprehensive papers outlining key challenges and policy blueprint for SMEs digitalization and country reports discussing specifics of CEE countries in this topic. Findings of these reports as well as issues identified in discussion rounds will be addressed to policymakers.
